The design:

With both the cover and the table of contents I took inspiration from old hospital records, both with the layout, but also the font in the edition and date under the title. Further in the book I have played with different ways of placing text based on what the text was about. As the G, based on the story of van Gogh's ear, in the header on page 4 and the body text on page 6.
